Senior Engineer, Hawaiian Electric Company
In 2014, Hawaiian Electric Company issued a Request for Proposal to install a photovoltaic solar system across two buildings at their Kahe power plant in Kahe Point, Oahu. Hawaiian Electric Company was looking to take advantage of the opportunity to generate renewable energy, utilizing the existing building’s roofs.
Island Pacific Energy won the contract to construct the 286kW roof mounted photovoltaic system. The photovoltaic system was the third to be installed at a Hawaiian Electric Company power plant.
The 286kW photovoltaic system is installed on the roofs of the maintenance and warehouse buildings at the Hawaiian Electric Company Kahe power plant. The system consists of 952 solar modules and two six inverters. The systems generates over 440,000kWh of clean, renewable energy annually.
