Senior Engineer, Hawaiian Electric Company

In 2013, Hawaiian Electric Company issued a Request for Proposal to install a photovoltaic solar system on the maintenance building at their Waiau power plant in Pearl City, Oahu. Hawaiian Electric Company was looking to take advantage of the opportunity to generate renewable energy, utilizing the existing maintenance building’s roof.

Island Pacific Energy won the contract to construct the 137kW roof mounted photovoltaic system. The photovoltaic system was the second to be installed at a Hawaiian Electric Company power plant.

The 137kW photovoltaic system is installed on the roof of the maintenance building at the Hawaiian Electric Company Waiau power plant. The system consists of 480 solar modules and two inverters. The systems generates over 200,000kWh of clean, renewable energy annually.
